The number of sessions you’ll need really depends on your goals and circumstances. Some clients come for just a few sessions to work through a specific issue, while others choose longer-term support to navigate ongoing challenges or personal growth.
Together, we’ll check in regularly to make sure counselling is meeting your needs. You are never locked in—you decide how often you’d like to come and when you’re ready to finish.
The first session is about getting to know you and understanding your needs. We’ll explore your goals for counselling, and you’ll have the chance to ask any questions. It’s a relaxed and supportive conversation designed to make you feel comfortable.
Yes, counselling is usually confidential. Counsellors are required to maintain the confidentiality of their clients and not disclose any information discussed during the session without the client’s permission. The only exception to this is if the counsellor believes that the client could be at risk of harm or is a danger to themselves or someone else.
The best way to prepare for a counselling session is to think about the topics you want to discuss and to make a plan for the session. It can also be helpful to write down any questions that you have and any particular goals that you want to focus on. It is important to think about what you would like to get out of the session so that you can make the most of your time. Additionally, it is important to be open to exploring different perspectives and to be willing to try out different approaches. Finally, it is important, to be honest, and open with yourself and the counsellor.
It is important to contact us as soon as possible if you need to reschedule an appointment. Depending on the circumstances and availability, we may be able to offer an alternative time or date. However, if you do not contact us within 24 hours of your appointment, you may be charged a cancellation fee.

Every client is different. Some people find that a few sessions help them gain clarity and tools to move forward, while others prefer longer-term support. We will discuss your goals together and review progress along the way.
